I always like to organize our children’s birthday parties around a simple theme and location— it makes it easier for me to come up with ideas for activities and decoration.

Then, depending on the time I have, I prepare the party. This year, I didn’t have much time at all, so I kept the preparation of the party to a minimum! I simply asked David what he would like to his party look like and his answer was: “I want my classmates coming over”. He has 15 classmates and they ALL get really well together, they’re a great group of kids, but … if they all come over, it would be definitely too many children at the same time under one roof.

Since it’s been really beautiful weather lately, and to say the truth, I haven’t seen a month of September being so hot in the last few years here, we decided for a Pool Birthday Party! This time the location was the clue, and not the theme.

We hosted his 9th birthday party at the pool area in the compound we live. It’s become a tradition in our family of hosting parties at home and on the actual day of the birthday (and we were so lucky this year that it was SUNDAY!), rather than waiting for a weekend day to celebrate — it’s our way of keeping things intimate, and I always think it makes their birthday that much more special for them.

We invited his classmates and his closest friends and we decided to engage children with different games and football matches that are a great part of David’s (and his friends) interests and hobbies right now.

At the beginning of the party, they had a balloon sculpturing activities and a face painting for those who wanted (especially younger siblings who attended the party).

We played few games and competitions like limbo and other sport games (even Rugby!), and all children participated enthusiastically.

Then the moment for another attraction came – white big Piñata, filled with gadgets, mini games, candies. Children literally loved it and they ate all the sweets right away when the big Piñata finally get exploded!

Children played football and gave maximum of themselves, so tired and sweaty they jumped into the pool water! Happy to stay finally fresh and cool, they played pool activities, did competitions and other water games.

Some friends prepared a surprise for the birthday boy with the white T-shirts ” DAVID is 9” printed on it, and it was super fun seeing them all wearing the same shirts. Just look at their happy faces staying all together at the edge of the pool.

After the swimming, they get really hungry and the birthday cake FOOTBALL themed was served.

We spent this sunny, beautiful day at the pool celebrating the birthday boy. It was such a lovely party!

I love the planning, the buying, the gathering, the styling … the whole big hoopla and I love the day of the party itself. What’s not to love about happy people surrounded by beautiful decorations and lovely food? But at the end, the best part is seeing my kid’s face smiling and looking at me with gratitude and LOVE.

Thank you for reading me and sharing with me those beautiful, unforgettable moments.

Xxx
