Have you find out the gender of your baby?

Being pregnant, one of the first questions people tend to ask is ‘Do you know what you’re having?’ It’s such a natural conversation starter. I know it’s one of the first questions I tend to ask pregnant women I meet as well.
This is my third pregnancy and at 22 weeks we don’t know yet what gender is. Having a boy and a girl already, I feel extremely lucky, as I won at the BINGO (they say!). So, it doesn’t matter that much for us. But for our children, oh boy! It matters a lot and it looks like both Victoria and David is anxious to discover whether the baby is a brother or a sister.

The thing I’ve noticed lately is that more often than not, people tend to find out their baby’s gender. I guess it’s become increasingly easy (and tempting!) to find out, especially now that you can do an easy blood test from just 10 weeks that reveals your baby’s gender.
Also, I always get surprised by people when they tell me they don’t want to know the gender at all! Few of my friends didn’t want to discover the gender and they loved the surprise at birth so much, they just couldn’t imagine finding out what they are having during pregnancy.

I can see all the reasons for finding out – to help connect with your baby, to help your other children connect and adjust, to help with choosing a name, to help you prepare, reveal, and those tiring questions from everybody about gender.

Isn’t it funny how some people want to know, while others can feel so passionately about not finding out?!
I love the anticipation of waiting! But for sure not until the end of the pregnancy!
What about you?

I wish I was the type that could wait for the gender to reveal at the birth but I really felt like I wanted to know early to help connect to our baby. So we kept the secret until 23rd week and finally, we thought to organize a baby gender reveal party! I like throwing parties and I have enjoyed so much all the preparation and organization process!

We have started with choosing the location. We decided the Villa 26 because we wanted the party to be outside (here in Albania we are so lucky to have beautiful warm weather even until the end of October, mid-November!), for its beautiful garden and vegetation Villa 26 was just the best decision.

The decoration part was a great deal and important for us. That’s why I wanted to work with professionals and the Aura Events Boutique was a perfect shot! We wanted something classy but simple and in theme with the party Gender Reveal. Between all the options for colors and decorations,  we decided on pink and blue pastels balloons, the OH Baby! cardboard banner and the elegant dessert carriage to put upfront.

For desserts and pasties, we have opted to trust the pastry SHOP LE BON

as they make the most precious and yummy desserts. We had a Boy or Girl cake, cake pops, cupcakes, macaroons, and Boy or Girl cookies, all covered with pastel Boy or Girl sugar on tops.

All was perfectly in tune and sweets matched the decorations so well!

The idea of the Gender Reveal Party was American Style since one of my friends offered to borrow Big Gender Reveal Baby Dolls.

We blow up a black balloon that was supposed to have PINK or BLUE confetti inside to reveal the gender. But we decided to have green confetti instead of blue and pink, to confuse our guests even more! We laughed so much when we blow up the balloon and green confetti came out – you should have seen their confused faces!

I loved how everyone in the family and friend groups gets SO excited to hear the news. It’s so special to everyone else to the final part of the party when finally when they’ve had to wait!

And we waited until the final part of the event when the PINK DOLL came out of the box and everybody laughed and applauded for the baby girl to come.

Previously, we had chosen 2 names: Oliver for a Boy and Anna for a Girl.

We are waiting for you, BABY ANNA! You are so loved already!

Which type are you? Did (do) you find out your baby’s gender?

Let me know in the comments below.

Sending you lots of Love,

Joanna
