You can either hate or love The San Valentine’s Day.
I’m a fan of holidays, they provide an excuse to celebrate, and I think that we especially need something to celebrate during the cold days of winter. Valentine’s Day, falling in the middle of February, is one of those milestones that says we are making it through the winter.
Some years we just have a special dinner with chocolate hearts by each place setting, and other years we make handmade Valentine’s Cards and host a party, but even the simplest of celebrations can brighten up your child’s day.
Here are a few suggestions for your own celebration.
- Make Valentine’s Cards and send them to friends
- Bake Heart Shaped Tender Cake (find here our recipe )
- Have a Valentine’s Day Picnic (indoors if the weather is bad). Pack heart-shaped foods and lay out a pink blanket.
- Read Valentine’s themed books while you relax together.
You can like, dislike, celebrate or boycott. But it’s definitely worth reading about love, not only for children and not only for San Valentine’s.
These are my favorite 10 titles of books about LOVE for children:
- I Love You…: A Mother’s Secret by Astrid Desbordes
- I Love You to the Moon and Back
- Guess How Much I Love You: 1
- Love from the Crayons
- Love From Dr. Seuss
- Llama Llama I Love You
- The Invisible String
- The Lion Who Wanted To Love
- Love: A story about who you truly are.
- Wherever You are, My Love Will Find You
HAPPY SAN VALENTINE’S DAY! with lots of Love – A Mother’s Joy Team
